CES Las Vegas 2020: Get a preview of the Somfy air program to improve indoor air quality

This year Somfy will present its "Somfy air" programme: concrete and accessible solutions to help you aerate your home. These solutions should be available from the 2nd quarter of 2020*.

The quality of drinking water, and that of the air you breathe in your home, are equally vital. How can you ensure indoor air quality? What solutions are there? Here are some examples.

The causes for indoor air pollution

Air pollution exists, both outdoors and indoors. Indoor air pollution, however, is invisible; we do not think about it. Where does it come from? Household humidity – bathroom condensation, sweat – can increase levels of potentially toxic mould. Kitchens generate pollutants, from grease fumes to carbon monoxide from fuel combustion.

Our dear pets are another source of indoor pollution: allergens and dust mites can cause respiratory allergies. Household cleaning products can contain allergy-causing, irritating, or even corrosive chemicals. Finally, scented products (candles, incense, air fresheners, etc.) release volatile organic components that increase ambient air pollution.

As a result, indoor air pollution is everyone’s concern. There are, however, very simple solutions to improve air quality.

Air pollution solutions

Thankfully, there are simple solutions to avoid the risks associated with indoor air pollution – which can be up to eight times higher than that of outdoor air. First, open windows at least twice a day for 10 minutes to allow fresh air to move into the house. This is not always easy, especially if your home has many rooms, and if you are wary of intruders entering when your windows are open....

Somfy therefore offers automatic and secure airing of its home with its new Somfy air range. Operation is simple with a motorised connected sliding window. With a simple click on the control unit with integrated humidity sensor, the window is a few centimetres apart and closes automatically when the air is cleaned.
